E. LIVE - Make Me Move / Here's To You
Longtime Star Creature front man E. Live makes his debut on the labels Tugboat Editions imprint with a few flips from the Skyy catalog. The A Side gets a thriller of a reinterpretation of "First Time Around". May sound familiar to the Make Me Move cut on his Soft Approach album but here he taps Chelsea "Chesta" Blake of "Do Me Like That" fame for the vocals. The "Here's To You" remake gets a vocal touch from scene new-comer Jolie Davenport guaranteed to blow you away.
CJ Bolland - Camargue / Tokyo
1992 was a wild year. For planet earth. For humanity. People desired for escapism, and some producers just had the jive they yearned for. Endless kick drum excitement under a roof of strings. Up there in clap heaven, the chords fly candid, and all that hi-hat suspense fashions bliss. These dancers met an angel, circulating eternally towards the strobe. Oh, how they wished all that trance never ends in 1993, when CJ Bolland, one of the most influential and successful producers Belgium created in the nineties, dropped “Camargue”. An instant trance techno classic. Atemporal, abnormal, amoral. Raved together with British producer Cisco Ferreira for Belgium’s finest R&S records. Both worked on many sensual club music artworks together. Like “Tokyo”, the B-Site with an A-Note. Tripping fast, more hi-hat ecstasy, techno kicks, somewhere Goa is in there. Those where the 1990ees. Those days in fast pace. Blissed with trance of techno glam.
Skee Mask - Resort
While particular details change from record to record, Müller’s tunes often harbor a similar feeling: It is heart-on-sleeve and tough at once, every drum landing with an icy precision and each keyboard stretching towards the skies. Even as he pans from one genre to another, that emotive approach serves as his bedrock. His music sits at the intersections of breakbeats, ambient music, and techno; over the years, he’s become so adept behind the boards that any seams are more or less invisible.
VA - WPKY Jams
The first long player from Parkway Records, feature 8 exclusive hot jams!
Patrick Cowley - Kickin' In (2024 Remaster)
Dark Entries again shines a spotlight on bathhouse disco don Patrick Cowley with a newly remastered release of Kickin’ In. Although Cowley tragically passed from AIDS-related illness in 1982, he left an extensive archive of unreleased tapes, many of which Dark Entries has had the honor of releasing. While working as a lighting technician at The City, SF’s disco cabaret, Cowley saw rising star Frank Loverde perform. Cowley asked Loverde to contribute vocals to some material in progress, and Frank, Linda Imperial, and Peggy Gibbons joined Cowley in the studio. The resulting songs included “Kickin’ In,” a 9-minute cybernetic disco stormer that taps into the essence of Cowley’s hi-NRG sound: equal parts spaced out and zoned in on the dancefloor.
Tom Carruthers - DOWNTOWN RHITHMS
The ever prolific Tom Carruthers is back on L.I.E.S. flipping the script with a new double lp "Downtown Rhithms" On this one Carruthers takes his sound into uncharted territories with a style heavily indebted to the late 80s-early 90s New York House sound. Filled with heavy duty samples heads are sure to know, TC spliced, diced, rearranged and transformed them into something sounding like it came out of Todd Terry or Bones SP-1200 back in the days. Funky, deep, introspective, these 12 tracks are guaranteed to rock the floor wherever you may be.
E.R.P - Faded Caprice
"Faded Caprice" is a mesmerizing journey into the heart of summer's fading glow. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each track is a sonic tableau, capturing the essence of hot afternoons and wistful sunsets. E.R.P.'s signature blend of deep, cosmic funky electro gems resonates with emotional depth, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its hypnotic embrace.
From the pulsating rhythms of "Miami Nice" to the introspective melodies of "Cape Earl," "Faded Caprice" stands as a testament to E.R.P.'s artistry and vision, offering audiences a glimpse into the boundless possibilities of sound and emotion.
VA - A Decade Of Dekmantel Festival
Dekmantel Ten is a mirror of Dekmantel Festival. The 7x12" boxset includes seven records that mirror the seven stages to be found at the 2024 event, their 10th edition since 2013. The tracklisting isn't rigid — some of the musicians gathered here have in fact played at most of the available stages — but like a Möbius strip looping round, or a cat-and-mouse game, it's not hard to discern a symbiotic relationship. Split seven ways, DKMNTL100 is a testament to the art of curation and the importance of quality control.
Julian De'Angelo - NOWnormal
Julion De’Angelo’s music is always moving forward and evolving: an experimental and thought-provoking yet soulful modern black sound, with strong focus on the drums!
His debut EP for Mother Tongue is no exception.
From the percussive opus ‘NOWnormal’, passing through ‘NotAnotherCafe!!!(Turmeric Latte Mix)’, an hypnotic collaboration with fellow artist Deon Jamar, to the almost electronica beat-down jam ‘MyzticBounz’, this is another step into Julion’s rich and expressive musical world!
Bell Towers - Büro Hahn Edits VOL. III
Like phoenix rising from the ashes. Buero Hahn is back. Laying off on the edits for 6 years Bell Towers, who currently scrambles eggs in the kitchen of his wine bar, has still got it. Exquisite selection, soft touch, strong finish. Hey D.J. you will need these songs!!
