10 FAVOURITE RELEASES FROM THE PAST FEW WEEKS, SELECTED BY THE NOWADAYS MAGAZINE TEAM.

BBE - Our Music Our Culture Vol. 2

The Gilles Peterson Worldwide award winning Co-Op club first opened its doors back in 2000, the brain child of Bugzintheattic artists and DJ's Afronaut & Mark Force.

Initially headed by residents Phil Asher, Demus, IG Culture and Dego, the Bugzintheattic crew and Domu later rejoined the residency. To those in the know, word of those original parties rapidly spread making attendance to these understated Sun-day nights compulsory. The music played was progressive but with a foot still firmly planted in the roots of black sound system culture, dub sirens fired off in between inch ups and rewinds while the open mic was passed around amongst MC’s and singers keen to expand their lyrical gymnastics.

Laseech - I Saw You ft. Swaylo

This release marks an exciting chapter for Laseech and sets the tone for the vision of Cosada: a soulful music label that draws inspiration from the rich, melodic landscapes of the Adriatic, offering a sonic journey into eclectic, yet profound and classy sounds. The name "Cosada" holds personal significance, as it’s not only the name of a serene island off the coast of the Adriatic where Laseech spends his free time, but it’s also the street of his studio where the magic of creation happens. Laseech aims to create a platform for forward-thinking, timeless music that connects with listeners on a deeper level.

Theo - Currents

Theo, the mastermind behind the label Sound Theory, recently dropped an EP where each track explores nearly identical sonic textures—blurring the line between repetition and cohesion. While some might call it monotonous, others see it as a bold exercise in minimalism and mood.

R&L Productions - Beyond The Garage "The Extended Mixes"

Cut from the megamix these are five long play, now full length versions of tracks from the 2023 LP.

This record features two new and unreleased versions of the Robert Owens song from the record. The Robert Owens accapella was dug up by R+L Productions and graciously has been licensed officially from Mr. Owens. Housed in a full picture cover.

Bandulu - RX-01LP

RAWAX proudly presents BANDULU 's outstanding longplayer called Repercussions. Originally released on Foundation Sound Works in 1996!

Sweater On Polo - Mechanical Confusion

NYC’s underground producer Sweater On Polo back on the machines for the first release on Signal Route. “Mechanical Confusion” favors the techno and basement house approach of early 90’s Chicago innovators found on labels such as Dance Mania, Relief Records, and Saber Records. His style and approach carry a familiar old school angst, creating an intergenerational dialogue between the now and then. Going from acid house, to techno, and then synth punk, this 6 track EP captures the relentless range of the young artist.

Trinidadian Deep - About U

Deep house is known for tempos typically from 110 to 125 bpm, muted basslines, spacious use of percussion elements (typically using a Roland TR-909 drum machine), soft keyboard sounds, use of advanced chord structures, ambient mixes, and soulful vocals

Tony Johnson - Pixel Dreams EP

Tony Johnson—the electrifying new alter ego of multi-talented artist Toon Janssens. Under this moniker, he delves deep into the world of acid and electronic soundscapes, capturing the raw energy of the early days. Get ready to be transported into a hypnotic realm of cosmic atmospheres.

Shin Watanabe - HS001

This is the brand new sublabel of HOTMIX Records, runned by Nick Anthony Simoncino! The first release comes from Shin Watanabe. Propper Classic House Music!

Various Artists - Blueprint

Demuja unveils 'Blueprint', the first release on his label MUJA to feature collaborations with other artists. After celebrating the label’s 10-year milestone, Demuja felt it was the right moment to take the next step, and he's excited to launch this new phase with a carefully curated VA compilation.

This 12 Inch sampler includes contributions from iconic figures in the scene, such as Boo Williams, Kyle Hall, Gonno, and Lefto, among others. While the compilation offers a variety of sounds, it stays true to its core, remaining focused on deep and underground house music!
